Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved the appointment of Prof. Michael Ugota Awoke as Vice Chancellor of the Ebonyi State University, EBSU.
Voice of reports that the governor approved the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor following the recommendations of the governing council of the university.
A Professor of Agricultural Economics, Awoke was a Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University.

Also appointed were Professors Ike Elechi Ogba and Michael Ajanwachukwu who were appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), respectively.
Others were Mrs. Ugochinyere Mba Uka, registrar; Mrs Roseline Nwuzor, bursar; and Mrs. Victoria Nwali, librarian.
Governor Nwifuru, who announced the appointments shortly after a church service at the Government House Chapel, Abakaliki, said the newly appointed principal officers would be sworn in on Tuesday, 11th February 2025.
