Regional Development Ministry Pledges Balanced, Equitable Leadership

The Federal Ministry of Regional Development Commission says it will provide balanced and equitable leadership to drive Nigeria’s regional development agenda.

The Minister Federal Ministry of Regional Development Commission, Mr. Abubakar Momoh made the commitment during the inauguration of the governing board of the North-west and South-east Development Commission in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.

The Minister said that the Ministry envisage coordination and streamlining of all the development plans of all the development partners operating in the six geo-political zone into a single integrated National development plan as a roadmap to equal and accelerated development of the regions.

“But given that you are about to operate in an uncharted terrains where expectations are already high, I urge you all to bring your diverse expertise and wealth of experience to bear on the course of your newly assigned duties,” he said.

Mr. Momoh reiterated that under his leadership, the new Ministry of Regional Development would make a difference through the Nigerian Government’s
interventions in the North-West and South-East Regions of the country,

“I look forward to seeing Commissions that are focused on the path to effective execution of their Mandates for the wholesome and sustainable development of their zones in particular, and the country at large,” he said.

Mr. Momoh also noted that through collaboration and partnership with stakeholders there would be better positioned to leverage opportunities in the region to expand intervention in health, Education, security and build more capacity to diversify the range of economic activities that support livelihood.

“We believe such harmony in development design will deliver the synergy and momentum sorely needed for the rapid transformation of the country at large, also believe both the Ministry and your latest Commissions must collaborate rather than compete with the regional state governments to best deliver value to the majority of the people,” he said.

The Minister commended President Bola Tinubu for his uncommon and strategic vision towards an all-inclusive development of Nation through regional approach.
