The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has urged the troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE, currently deployed in Benue and surrounding states, to take decisive action in addressing all security challenges within their operational area.
This effort is essential to ensure the maintenance of peace and security both in the region and across the nation as a whole.
During a formal operational visit to the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE in Makurdi, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) conveyed the charge on Wednesday, 12 February 2025.
The Army Chief assured the troops of his unflinching support to achieve their operational mandate. He further pledged to prioritise the welfare of the troops and that of their families, as well as provide combat enablers to enhance their operational effectiveness and expedite the attainment of their statutory tasks.
The operational tour also included a visit by the Chief of Army Staff to the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering and the 401 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi.
During this visit, he conducted inspections of ongoing projects aimed at mitigating the acute shortage of accommodation and enhancing the living standards within the Barracks community.
