Kebbi State Governor in North West Nigeria, Nasir Idris, has participated in the global observance of World Radio Day, acknowledging the essential role that broadcast media plays in fostering public awareness, encouraging peaceful coexistence, and promoting democratic development within Nigeria.
In a statement issued by Abdullahi Idris Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, the importance of radio and television stations was underscored as critical tools for bridging the communication divide between the government and the populace.
Governor Idris commended the media industry for providing a platform for elected leaders to share their achievements and challenges, while also entertaining and allowing the public to express their opinions.
Governor Idris emphasized his commitment to freedom of speech and fair hearing, advising that these principles should be strictly adhered to.
He also reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing the efficiency and productivity of state-owned media organizations, including the provision of modern equipment for Kebbi Radio and Television stations.
