Ini Edo Opens Up on Marriage, Miscarriages, Journey to Motherhood

Nollywood Actress Ini Edo has opened up about how her marriage didn’t go as planned. Speaking on the Buzz podcast, the actress revealed that she married at 26, hoping to complete childbearing by 31 and focus on her career. However, things took an unexpected turn.

However, despite carefully laid plans, fate had other intentions. Ini Edo endured the heartbreak of over six miscarriages, shattering her hopes of early motherhood.

”Getting married at 26 I thought by 31 I would have been done to face my career squarely but life didn’t pan out that way. I have had over six miscarriages, I don’t like going into it. It wasn’t a fancy way out for me. I have always wanted to do this. I have lost half way mid way through and know what I have dealt with as a woman.”

Ini Edo married U.S.-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008, but their union ended in 2014 after six years. In 2021, she welcomed her first child, a daughter, through surrogacy.
