Nigerian Music Stars, Wizkid, Davido Bag NAACP Awards
Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Davido took home awards at the NAACP Awards. The NAACP Image Awards is an annual awards ceremony presented by the U.S.-based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to honour outstanding performances in film, television, theatre, music, and literature.
The Morayo crooner, Wizkid won the award for Best Contemporary Duo or Group for his single ‘Piece of My Heart’ featuring Brent Faiyaz. The song which is one of the songs off his recently released sixth record-breaking album ‘Morayo’ set a new record for the highest opening day streams of a song on Spotify Nigeria.
Hitmaker Davido also bagged the award for Best International Song for his part in Chris Brown‘s ‘HMM’. This has become the second collaboration of the duo to win the NAACP after their hit single ‘Sensational’ won Best Contemporary Duo in 2024.
The image awards had winners in 40 different categories in the following groups: Art and Motion Picture, Music, Podcasts, Books, Shortform, and Television
