The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has stated that a substantial investment in education will create increased opportunities for sustainable development within the country.
General Musa stated this at the 50th anniversary of his former school, Yahaya Abdulkarim Model Primary School in Sokoto State.
He emphasised the need for well-meaning Nigerians to support educational activities in their respective communities to enhance and promote socio-economic development in the country.
The CDS also called for people to promote the spirit of brotherhood and togetherness among communities and leverage the partnerships for a safe and secure
General Musa expressed his appreciation to the leadership and members of the alumni association for organizing the event. He emphasized that this initiative provides a valuable platform for engaging in critical discourse regarding community, national, and global issues.
He said it was essential to express gratitude to God, acknowledge the unwavering commitment of members in coming together for the common good of humanity
According to him, the institution has served as a beacon of knowledge and the cultivation of ethical values for many years.
”Education is the bedrock of every development, I urged the younger ones not to be deterred by challenges, put trust in God, surely you will move forward,” he said.
He added that he along with other alumni members moved to make significant contributions to the Alma-mata and further contribute to Nigeria and beyond.
According to him, the platform had created valuable opportunities to exchange memories, reunite with members and focus on insights that are essential for enhancing community and national development.
The Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammad Gobir commended the CDS for investments in education which argued the state government’s efforts on uplifting the standard of education across the State.
Idris Gobir reiterated the government’s determination to rejuvenate the education sector to make it relevant and in line with global best standards.
In his address, the Alumni Association Chairman, Abdullahi Jimoh highlighted the importance of the reunion and thanked CDS for the total rehabilitation of the school and other contributions along with other members.
He urged members to use the platform not only to exchange ideas but also to foster collaboration among them and support younger generations.
The event also featured the inauguration of renovated classrooms, offices, toilets and children’s playgrounds along with a display of cultural songs as well as drama presentations
