A University Don, Al-Hafiz Shehu Ibrahim Ahmed, has tasked religious leaders (Imams), on feeding the less privileged during the month of Ramadan to reduce the economic hardship.

Al-Hafiz Ahmed made the call while speaking at the 10th Ramadan Lecture organized by the Islamic Society of Eggonland, at Nasarawa Eggon Local government Area of Nasarawa State, North Central Nigeria.

Speaking on the topic “the spirit of generosity: giving back in Ramadan’, Al-Hafiz Ahmed said generosity improves the spirit of togetherness and human understanding.

“We have to be human, by showing the human sympathy to the less privileged, most especially in the holy month of Ramadan.”

Also speaking on the topic, “Understanding the purpose of fasting: Taqwa and self-restraint”, Dr. AbdulKareem Suleiman Ibrahim of the department of computer science, Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, said the lectures are to remind Muslims on the do’s and don’ts of fasting.

“Fasting the month of Ramadan gives you the opportunity to fear Allah the more by doing what is ordained and abstaining from what Allah (SWT) has forbidden.”

In his goodwill message, the Executive chairman of Nasarawa Eggon, Mr. Iliya Ibn Aliyu, applauded the Islamic Society of Eggonland (ISE) for all the things they have been doing.

“Islamic Society of Eggonland is one of the best NGO around the state that have been consistent and doing a lot for humanity in and around Nasarawa Eggon and its environs.

“This is the 10th Ramadan Lecture they have been organizing, I’m able to attend six out of ten. It’s quite an interesting lecture that has been consistent by gathering Imams and equipping them with more knowledge that would be downloaded at their various communities to the masses.”

The General Secretary, Islamic Society of Eggonland (ISE), Umar Abdullahi-Galle, said the lectures aim to educate Imams in both local and widely spoken language on contemporary issues affecting Muslims and Islam.

“The knowledge is designed to enhance the Imam’s Ramadan Tafsir sessions and equip them with insights to address the needs of their congregations.”

Participants at the Ramadan Lecture, the Chief Imam of Bekeno, Imam Abubakar Suleiman, and Imam, Umar Abdullahi Agyo, appreciated the Islamic Society of Eggonland (ISE), and pledged to pass the knowledge to their various communities.
