
Nigeria Strengthens Commitment to Clean Cooking, Green Energy Solutions
The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST) has reaffirmed its Commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions following a high-level engagement with representatives from Cmap and West Africa Blue. The meeting underscored the growing momentum in advocating for clean cooking and green energy alternatives across Nigeria.
During the discussions, the Honourable Minister commended Cmap and West Africa Blue for their commitment to advancing innovative solutions in the clean energy sector. The Ministry reiterated its steadfast mission to foster clean energy technologies that align with national sustainability goals.

Key initiatives highlighted during the meeting include:
Cassava-Based Ethanol Plant in Ekiti State – A landmark project aimed at boosting local biofuel production and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Montserrado Investments and FIIRO, underscores the role of innovation in Nigeria’s energy future.
Advancing Clean Cooking Technologies – Supporting research and policies that promote the adoption of clean cooking stoves and alternative fuels.
Green Energy Advocacy – Engaging stakeholders, investors, and innovators to create an enabling environment for clean energy adoption across households and industries.

Representatives from Cmap and West Africa Blue shared their vision for enhancing clean cooking solutions and explored key areas of collaboration with the Ministry. In response, the Ministry assured them of its unwavering support in fostering an environment that encourages innovation and sustainable energy development.
The discussions were further strengthened by the presence of Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, who emphasised the agency’s crucial role in coordinating energy functions and activities under the Ministry’s supervision.

By fostering partnerships with key stakeholders, the Ministry continues to drive initiatives that will enhance clean cooking, promote green technology, and accelerate the transition to renewable energy across the nation.
