Kwara: Controller of Corrections seeks improved conditions for inmates

The Controller of Corrections, Kwara State Command, CC Famuwagun Oyeniran is seeking better living conditions for inmates due to congestion in the centre

Oyeniran who made this known during a courtesy visit to the state Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara in his office expressed dismay at the way he met the inmates due to what he described as inadequate logistics, poor access road especially the dilapidated bridge leading to Mandala Custodial Center.

He also made mentioned of the overcrowded road from Oja Oba to Okekura Custodial Centre and the congestion of inmates, in the custody.

Suggests Relocation of Custodian Centre

He suggested the relocation of the Custodial Centre to a more convenient and spacious location due to the congestion of the facility.

The Controller emphasised that eighty percent of the inmates in Kwara Facilities are Kwarans and therefore implored the Chief Judge to use his good office to see to his requests to make life more meaningful to the inmates as they are products of the larger society.

According to him, they are returning back to the society after serving their jail terms and lamented that challenges, he highlighted hinder quick dispensation of Justice.

In his response, Justice Adebara expressed his happiness to receive the Controller and emphasized the need for more logistics in the department as it affects the quick dispensation of justice in his jurisdiction.

The Chief Judge assured him of his maximum support and cooperation towards the quick dispensation of justice in the state.
