President Tinubu Chairs Federal Executive Meeting

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently leading the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting, which commenced at 1:55 pm when the President arrived at the Council Chamber, marks the fourth executive session of 2025.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed on monday that the council members will converge again on Wednesday for another council meeting for the year.

Representative of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation informed the council of the demise of Mrs Adenike Ebunoluwa Oyagbola, Nigeria’s first female minister who served as Minister of National Planning from 1979 to 1983.

Mrs Oyagbola passed away on friday 28th February, at age of 93.

The SGF representative also announced the passing of elder stateman Edwin Clark, a former member of Federal Executive Council who served as federal commissioner for information in 1975 under the administration of late General Murtala Mohammed.

Prior to this, he was appointed mid-western commissioner for Education and later finance, serving from 1966 to 1975.

He also served as commissioner for Education and played a key role in the establishment of mid West college of technology which later became a foundation for the establishment of the present day university of Benin.

Mr Clark passed away on Monday 17th February,2025 at the age of 97.

The council thereafter observed a minute silence in honour of the departed council members.

The Executive Council on Monday approved four major road infrastructure projects across the country, amounting to a total of N733 billion.

The projects included section two area of the outstanding Abuja-kaduna-Zaria-kano roads covering 164kilometres, at the sum of N507 billion and the flyover at Abakpa bordering 82 division area of Enugu State.

Also, the FEC meeting held on Monday  approved a ₦1.09 billion insurance package for critical assets and personnel across all federal airports in Nigeria.

The meeting also granted approval for the procurement of a N2.5 billion surveillance satellite, also known as an integrated solution framework, to combat illegal and unregulated mining activities across the country.

Also considered for approval was request for  provisional licenses by 11 private universities.

Present at the meeting were the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu,Head of Service of the Federation , Walson Didi- Jack, Chief of Staff to the President,Femi Gbajabiamila.

Also present were cabinet members of the President.
