Nigerian Airforce Receives AW139 Helicopter in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially handed over an AW139 helicopter to the Nigerian Air Force to enhance security operations in Rivers State and the Niger Delta region at large.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at the Air Force Base in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Governor Fubara urged the Nigerian Air Force to put the AW139 helicopter, which had been grounded since 2020, to effective use in securing lives, assets, and oil facilities in the Niger Delta region.

Governor Fubara and Air Marshal Abubakar inspected the runway under rehabilitation at the NAF Base and held discussions on matters of mutual interest.

Dignitaries present at the handover ceremony included Air Vice Marshal E.O.E. Ebiowei, Commander of the Tactical Air Command; A.A. Opaleye, Commander of the Special Operations Group of NAF; and Dr. Roland Obed-Whyte, State Commissioner for Special Projects.

The AW139 Helicopter is expected to enhance the Nigerian Air Force’s capabilities in safeguarding critical national assets in the Niger Delta region.
