Nasarawa Governor Commissions Upgraded Government Printing Press

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has commissioned the Nasarawa State Government Printing Press which was recently remodeled by his administration.

He said the remodeling has become important in order to provide a viable commercial and competitive printing component to the activities of ministry of information, culture and tourism in the state.

“This is a printing press was first built and commissioned in the year 2001 and we have to show appreciation to those who came up with the initiative of establishing it. Most of the equipment actually went obsolete and attempt made in the past to be able to upgrade the equipment failed.

“So we thank God Almighty for giving us the opportunity to be able to revamp the entire facilities. Today, we have cutting edge technologies, we have new equipments and we have been able to print nearly most of today’s kind of documents,” the governor noted.

He pointed out that the remodeled government printing press would henceforth be printing all government documents such as: gazettes, receipts, posters and banners and everything you can think of as far as modern technology is concerned.

The Governor disclosed that all necessary measures would be put in place to make the printing press competitive, cut cost of printing government documents and as well train indigene of the state on how to operate the printing machines and generate revenue for the state moving forward.

On the need to streamline all government ministries, departments and agencies to assess services at the facility, the Governor noted that the Head of Civil Service would evolve a circular to that effect that henceforth; all MDA’s would be patronizing the printing press.

He equally urged the management team of the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism to ensure that the facility provide quality and competitive services that could be placed side by side with what is obtainable out there in terms of clear and clean colour separation output.

With the presence of top-notch state of the art equipment at the government printing press now, the Governor expressed optimism that when property put into use, the facility would soon become a hub of commercial quality printing activities in the state.

Responding to questions from Journalists at the event, the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism Dr. Ibrahim Tanko said the state now has a facility where government could print their confidential documents secretly moving forward without exposing them to the public through commercial press.

He stressed that more people will be trained at the facility in order to aquire technical expertise that conforms to existing standards so as to make the place viable and competitive.

The remodeled government printing press has the following components: Pre-press computer to plate CTP section, Press off-set printing section, Post-press binding and finishing section, Pre-press graphics section, Press-flex section, Quality control section, Press direct image DI section and Gazette/white paper section.
