REPHI Calls for Increased Investment in Healthcare Research

The Research and Preventive Healthcare Initiative (REPHI), a non-governmental organization, has urged healthcare stakeholders to invest in research to enhance Nigeria’s healthcare system. The call was made by the Executive Director, Samuel Ikani, during the official launch of the organization on Monday, March 3rd.

In his welcome address, Ikani described the launch as a dream come true, emphasizing that all necessary compliance measures had been met to bring the organization to life. He expressed deep appreciation to board members for their support and their anticipated impact on REPHI’s future growth. He highlighted that the organization is driven by evidence-based research and action, urging stakeholders to collaborate in advancing healthcare research initiatives.

Commitment to Preventive Healthcare & Upcoming Interventions

During the event, Timothy Yapilami, REPHI’s Program Manager, delivered a presentation outlining the organization’s vision, mission, core values, and objectives. He stressed REPHI’s focus on preventive healthcare initiatives for women, children, youth, and people with disabilities. Yapilami also announced an upcoming health intervention in Kuduru Community, Bwari, FCT, Abuja, to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025. The intervention will provide dignity kits and sanitary pads to women, children, and youth in the community.

In his keynote speech, Board Chairman, Dr Ohiemi Emmanuel Adegbe, emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in the organization’s operations. He praised the founders’ dedication and assured them that the board would uphold integrity and good governance in REPHI’s activities.

A notable highlight of the event was a pledge from Victoria Ikani, a representative of Insights and Strategy Consulting Limited, a leading polling and research company in Nigeria. She encouraged REPHI to maintain its commitment to transparency and excellence and announced a ₦1 million grant to support the organization’s activities.

A Call to Action for Stakeholders

Closing the ceremony, Executive Director, Samuel Ikani, reiterated his call for stakeholder support to drive sustainable change across various communities. He emphasized that REPHI’s interventions would have a lasting impact on vulnerable populations, ensuring improved health outcomes through research-driven solutions.
