The National Examinations Council, NECO, has introduced a state-of-the-art Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) machine capable of marking up to 15,000 answer scripts per hour.
NECO Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi announced this on Thursday in Minna, the Niger State capital, saying “the cutting-edge technology will enable candidates to access their results faster than before.”
He said that the machine, purchased for N500m from the United States would enhance both efficiency and accuracy in processing large volumes of scripts.
Professor Wushishi reaffirmed NECO’s commitment to delivering world-class examinations, emphasizing that “the council will continue leveraging advanced technology to achieve its goals.”
He said; “The Scantron Insight 1500C is a high-performance OMR scanner renowned for its precision, speed, and ability to handle large volumes of scripts efficiently.
“As part of our mandate to conduct credible examinations, we have consistently sought innovative solutions to improve accuracy, speed, and reliability in examination processing.”
Professor Wushishi added that with this latest advancement, NECO aims to further strengthen its examination processes, ensuring timely and reliable results for candidates nationwide.
