The Rivers State Governor in South South Nigeria, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured that his administration will fully implement the recent Supreme Court judgment on the state’s political crisis.

He made this declaration during the inauguration of the new Judges’ Quarters in Port Harcourt, a housing facility completed by his administration for judges indigenous to Rivers State.

Governor Fubara emphasized that the interest of Rivers State must be above personal interests, adding that the Supreme Court’s judgment will be implemented in its entirety.

He also lamented the financial resources wasted on prosecuting the political crisis, which could have been better utilized for the state’s development.

The inauguration of the Judges’ Quarters is a significant milestone in Governor Fubara’s administration, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of judicial officers.

The project, which was initiated by the previous administration, provides seven duplexes of five bedrooms, exquisitely furnished, for judges who are indigenes of Rivers State or married to an indigene.

Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi, commended Governor Fubara for completing the project, which represents a continuation of the state government’s policy of providing befitting residential accommodation for judges.

The Rivers State Housing Scheme for Judicial Officers Law No. 10 of 2021, passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly, provides for ownership of decent accommodation in the state by every judicial officer who is an indigene of Rivers State or married to an indigene.

This initiative aims to reduce the pressure on judicial officers to build retirement homes while in service with limited resources.
