Efe Ajagba Excited for May 3 Showdown with Martin Bakole in Saudi Arabia
Nigerian heavyweight boxer Efe Ajagba has expressed excitement ahead of his highly anticipated fight against Congolese fighter Martin Bakole on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout will be part of the undercard for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s super middleweight championship fight against William Scull at the ‘FATAL FURY’ fight night event.
Ajagba Ready for Battle
Ajagba, also known as ‘The Silent Roller,’ took to Instagram to confirm his readiness for the fight, writing:
“It’s official, I’m ready to rumble. UghelliBoy, (it) is my time to shine. The Silent Roller can’t wait.”
The fight was originally set to take place in New York but was rescheduled for Riyadh following Bakole’s knockout loss to Joseph Parker in February. Parker defeated Bakole in the second round, stepping in as a late replacement for an ill Daniel Dubois.
Bakole Seeks Redemption, Ajagba Eyes Statement Win
Despite his recent defeat, Bakole (21-2, 16 KOs) remains a top-five ranked heavyweight and has quickly accepted the challenge against Ajagba. The 30-year-old also expressed gratitude to Turki Al al-Sheikh, the organiser of the Riyadh Season fight series, saying:
“Thank you for the opportunity, @turkialalshik.”
Ajagba, who boasts a record of 20-1 with 14 knockouts, sees this fight as a crucial opportunity to make a statement in the competitive heavyweight division. He previously taunted Bakole on Instagram, promising to:
“Whoop your as* the Naija way.”
Anthony Joshua’s Take on the Fight
Former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua has backed Bakole to recover from his recent loss, stating:
“Bakole believes in himself, and he’s got every right to. He’s a serious fighter. That’s not the end; this is the heavyweight division.”
However, Joshua also threw his support behind his Nigerian compatriot Ajagba, who will be looking to prove himself on one of boxing’s biggest stages.
Heavyweight Clash with Knockout Potential
With both fighters known for their knockout power, the May 3 showdown promises to be an explosive contest. A win for Ajagba could push him closer to a world title shot, while Bakole aims to bounce back and re-establish his credentials in the division.
