Association demands investigation into Gulak’s murder

The North East Development Association, NEDA in Nigeria has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the killing of Barrister Ahmad Gulak, in Owerri, Imo State on May 30, 2021.

The Association in a statement in Abuja condemned the killing of Barrister Gulak, an indigene of Adamawa State, who was the aid to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Statement signed by the group’s Secretary-General, Abubakar Umar Bitako also demanded an official apology from the Governors and Traditional Leaders of the South East over the unfortunate incident.

NEDA also urged the government to urgently bring an end to security breaches across the country.

“We in NEDA described the situation as absolutely pathetic, barbaric and unpardonable and therefore call on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency, bring an end to the several breaches of peace, wanton killings of innocent Nigerians.” The statement added.

The group also called on all patriotic Nigerians to rise for the rebuilding of the country based on democratic tenets.

 “North East Region has been passing through serious hard times over a decade now due to insurgency and other related crisis which will not accommodate any additional incident that may be devastating to the good people of the region.”

The North East Development Association is a non-governmental organization established to support and protect the interest of the North East Region, comprising of Six States of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.
