Ebonyi State donates over 4,000 Books to Students

The Ebonyi State Government in South east Nigeria has donated over 4000 books covering over 36 subjects ranging from Nursery to primary and even tertiary level.

The Immediate past Commissioner for Education Dr Oyebuchi Chima stated this during hand over ceremony of those books to the Acting Director, Ebonyi State Library in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

Dr Chima said the books would help in reviving the reading culture of Ebonyi Students and beyond.

 “This good development taking place today was necessitated by the passion I have to develop Education sector of the State

“We embarked on securing and donating these books because the State  Library was empty but from now henceforth, the people of the State are free to go to the Library to read and make researches which would further compliment the education Development in the State. Chima said.

He said the books would go a long way to support the poor students who cannot afford the money to buy the books.

The Commissioner commended the efforts of Journalists in their developmental journalism in the State and encouraged them to do routine check-up on educational facilities to ensure that they are in order in the State.

The Permanent State Secretary of the Ministry Mr Elijah Ituma said the books would help to alleviate the pains people pass through during research.

The Head of  Education curriculum Department, Mrs Virginia Egbu thanked the Commissioner for the innovative Program.

On her part, the Acting Director of Ebonyi State Library, Mrs Mgbo Uko Igariwe promised to make good use of the books donated to the Library for Students.
