Galaxy Backbone trains Federal officers on Advance Digital Economy Services

As part of it’s commitment to develop and enhance the digital Skills of its stakeholders and customers, Galaxy Backbone (GBB) has held a capacity building programme for members of the Digital Transformation Technical Working Group (DT-TWG).

The training which took place in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, is the first in the series of trainings to be conducted by GBB for the year 2021.

Participants were drawn from Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as a few parastatals.

The training is also to empower public officers with digital skills, to enable them to perform their functions adequately within their respective organisations, in line international best practice.

In His remarks, GBB’s Group Head of Research, Digital Innovation and Skills Department, Nasir Sulaiman, encouraged the participants to take advantage of the huge opportunities the current Digital Economy brings, urging them to imbibe and all they could in the course of the programme.

Sulaiman also advised them to embrace digital services such as using their official emails to transact their daily assignments.
“We advise you to commit to making use of your official emails and not your personal email in communicating amongst one another. Your official email is secure and gives you a professional outlook when interacting with local and international stakeholders, partners and clients.” Suleiman reiterated.

Technical and Service Experts from GBB and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), took participants on courses ranging from Digital Economy and the Nigerian Federal Public Sector, Use of govmail (the official government email system) for digital communication, as well as Network and Cyber security in the Nigerian Public Sector.

The Digital Transformation Technical Working Group (DT-TWG), is an initiative of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami.

It is composed of selected members across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and is mandated to provide digital leadership to the respective MDAs.

Each DT-TWG in an MDA comprises of a Director and/or Head of ICT, a member of the the MDA’s core operations department and a member each from the procurement, audit and/or finance, legal.

The DT-TWG Members are responsible for the success of digital initiatives and projects in their respective MDAs.

GBB, as the Digital Infrastructure and shared services provider to Federal Public Institutions, plays a fundamental role in the development and success of the DT-TWGs, for which the training was held.
