The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), linking it to a reported shooting incident involving ADC members in Edo State, describing the claim as baseless and premature.

In a press statement issued by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, the APC said the ADC’s February 25 statement accusing the ruling party of responsibility for the incident was made without regard for due process.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), had in an earlier statement condemned the recent attack on its members in Edo State, Southern Nigeria, targeting former Governor John Oyegun, party leader Peter Obi, and Olumide Akpata. The party accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating the attacks.

In a statement issued by National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the incident as part of a troubling pattern of political intimidation against opposition parties.

While rejecting any involvement, the APC condemned the reported violence and called on the police and other law enforcement agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.

The ruling party further suggested that investigators should examine internal disputes within the ADC, alleging that leadership and factional struggles within the opposition party may have contributed to the incident.

Reaffirming its position, the APC stated that it had no role in the shooting and was focused on consolidating its recent electoral victories in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as constituency elections in Rivers State and Kano State.
