Military Games: Nigeria to host 14 African Countries in Abuja

Fourteen Sahel Africa countries will be coming to Nigeria for the first edition of the Chief of Defence Staff, Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), aimed at promoting Peace and Solidarity.

The President Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) Brigadier General Abdullahi Maikano who disclosed this while briefing Journalists said that only three games Football, Golf and  Marathon Race will be featured at the game.

General Maikano said, The aim of the sporting event is s to promote peace and friendliness, solidarity among the participating Armed Forces in the Sahel region.

According to him, the countries that are coming are Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Libya, Benin republic, Cameroon, Tanzania, Kenya, Congo Brazen, and Congo Kinshasa.

These participating countries will start arriving in Nigeria on Saturday 9th of October for the sporting events.

About three hundred and twenty-seven athletes including Nigeria will participate in the games.

The opening ceremony of the event has been scheduled for Monday, 11th October 2021 while Saturday 17th October 2021 would be the closing day of the event.

Medals will be presented to the first, second and third in the football, and Golf events while medals would be awarded to the individual champion in the marathon event.

Peace Trophies will also be given to all the participating countries.

Meanwhile, all the Covid-19 protocols would be observed during the duration of the games.
