Sokoto Governor Swears-In Permanent Secretaries, DGs

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has sworn-in four new Permanent Secretaries and five Director Generals into the State Civil Service.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the government house in Sokoto where the governor charged the newly appointees to use their vast experience to uplift the Civil Service in the state.

“Your appointment is based on merit and wide consultation by government through the office of the Head Civil service in the state.

” I task you to use this opportunity to promote the service by adhering to rules and ethics of the profession for the overall development of the State,” he said

Excellent service delivery
According to Governor Tambuwal, planning is underway to establish Civil Servants’ Institution to enable excellent services delivery in the state.

He said the gesture was to ensure that the state’s Civil Servants were fully equipped to sustain the state’s value of excellent service delivery.

We have made the decision to establish the institution under the state University or any of our state owned institutions.

“This is to engage our retired Permanent Secretary and other good hands in the state to continue to train our civil servants to sustain the desire and mandate of the present administration.

“Moreover, I called on the Civil Servants to continue giving their best to the service of the state, as government is doing every thing possible to make life easy for them,” he stated.

He said government would collaborate with any of the tertiary institutions in the state for smooth take off of the programme.

Prompt and Timely Payment

Tambuwal explained that despite the dwindling resources in the state, the government has ensured prompt and timely payment of Civil Servants’ salaries and retirees’ pension as well their gratuities.

So, to whom much is given much is expected, we expect from the state civil servants‘ nothing less than excellence.

“However, for the new appointees, I charge you to continue with what has made government to appoint you to this very important position.

“That is patriotism, commitment to duty and selflessness. We expect you to use your experience in this position to improve on the service delivery of the state,” he stated.

Governor Tambuwal further said that the appointees coming to the service at the period could meet challenging and tasking atmosphere; ”as we are all aware of how states and the federal government are battling with security and economic challenges.

“I congratulate all of you, as your appointment is basically on merit, as such the expectation from you is very high,” he said.

The new Permanent Secretaries include, Abubakar Dikko, Abubakar Junaidu, Abubakar Sanyinna and Abdullahi Bafarawa.

The new Director Generals are, Kulu Nuhu, Ismail Abubakar, Ibrahim Umar, Sa’idu Ismail and Bello Goronyo.
