NIPOST reviews domestic postage rate

The Nigeria Postal Service, NIPOST, says it has keyed into the changing communication technology landscape with a view to meeting customers’ needs for reliability, security and speed.

The Zonal Manager, NIPOST Enugu Zonal Headquarters, Mr. Aba Friday made this known on Friday while addressing the 2021 maiden edition of Customers’ Forum of the Nigeria Postal Service held in Enugu.

Mr. Aba said, “Counter automation enables customers to track and trace their registered items from the point of posting to the point of delivery. To achieve this, all the major Post Office counters in the country have been automated. This action is aimed at being a world class Postal Service provider and to provide quality postal service that satisfies the aspirations of all stakeholders. It is the tradition of NIPOST to Partner with our Customers so as to serve them better”.

 “The choice of inviting you to this forum is to acquaint you of the upward review of NIPOST domestic postage rate from N50 to N250, thereby aiding in efficient service delivery and which has been graciously approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria for implementation,” Aba stated.

Mr Aba called on NIPOST customers to represent it well by helping to sensitize otherintending customers about the new development, as they remain the cheapest andfastest means of communication with spread to the remotest part of the country in terms of coverage.

The maiden event is organized by NIPOST throughout the whole federation to thank its customers for their continuous patronage throughout the year.

Recall that the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) as an autonomous entity in the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, came into existence on the 1st of January, 1985 as a department in the Ministry by virtue of Decree No. 18 of 1987 after the splitting of NIPOST and NITEL from the defunct P&T.

The organization became a full-fledged autonomous body on June 1 1992 with functions and powers to develop, promote and provide efficiently coordinated and economic postal services at fair and reasonable rates/ fees.
