The Kano state APC caucus at National Assembly have said that doors are open for reconciliation with aggrieved members of the party that wrote a petition to the National Headquarters of the party alleging non consultation in the affairs of the party in the state.
The leader of the 21 lawmaker caucus, Senator Kabiru Gaya, who reaffirmed their support for Governor Umar Ganduje’s leadership of the APC in Kano at a press briefing and in a rejoinder to the National Headquarters of party said there is no crises in the party.
He said the six protesting lawmakers led by Senators Ibrahim Shekarau and Jubril Barau would be reconciled into the majority group once they indicate interest.
“We have no problem with them, we are wishing them to come back for us to work as a team for the progress of the party.”
“Kano APC is not in crisis. We have always held meetings with the Governor, National Assembly members, LGA chairman and other stakeholders when there were issues. We have always been carried along by the governor.”
“We are united as a team and this has given us victory in our elections across board in the state. We grant successful Congress of the 484 wards, LGA and now state.”
He said the 21 members have written and signed a letter of support to the Governor to the National Headquarters of the party as a rejoinder to the claims made by the six petitioners.
“Contrary to the claim, the governor has been consulting all stake holders on the management of the party on the state. We disregard in entirety the claim of the protesters/petitioners,” said Senator Gaya
Senator Gaya representing Kano South said he once attended a meeting of the protesters/petitioners but opted out because he didn’t want to destroy the party they have worked and built together.
“As for those who said they saw me in a picture with the petitioners, yes I was there. I appealed to them that we should not take a fight to bring confusion or infractions in our party.”
“If we have any grievances, let us go and meet the governor or any relevant person in the state to explain our grievances. We can hold meetings and discuss and resolve it.”
“Unfortunately they have written a letter and made complain which all of us should sign but I backed out because I was a governor in the state. I know what it takes when there is instability. I will not encourage instability for the governor in the state.”
“We need to support our governor, we voted this governor into office. We cannot destroy the house that we built. We should maintain the house that we have built, paint it and make it look better,” said Gaya.
Senator, Gaya was flanked at the media briefing held at the APC Secretariat Kano by majority leader of the house Hon. Alhasan Doguwa and other members in support of the governor.
Part of the letter addressed also to the Chairman Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CEPC), All Progressive Congress (APC), National Headquarters Abuja, Nigeria and signed by the members of the caucus reads:
“Contrary to their claim, the APC leadership in Kano State led by the Executive Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR has been consulting all relevant stakeholders (including the purported Abuja-based petitioners) on virtually every matter in the management of the affairs of the party in the state.
“In the recently concluded Ward and Local Government, Congresses, Stakeholders meetings were convened, matters deliberated and subsequently a consensus mode of congress was adopted, which resulted to a successful conduct of free and fair congresses in the 484 wards and 44 Local Governments of the state.
“We hereby wish to respectfully urge the National Caretaker Committee of our great party (APC) to disregard in its entirety,
the claims of the so-called petitioners as they are baseless, unfounded and of no credible effect whatsoever.
“We wish to reiterate our unflinching loyalty, solidarity and total support to the Mai Mala Buni-led National leadership of our great
Party, the APC and the Governor of Kano State, DR Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR” the statement reads.
