FCTA workforce must be ICT compliance by next year – Perm Sec

The Minister of the Nigerian Federal capital territory administration, FCTA, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has approved that all staff of FCT must be Information Communication Technology, ICT compliance.

The Territory Permanent Secretary, Mr Adesola Olusade revealed this at the closing ceremony of the training the trainers’ workshop on the Online and Multimedia Education in public schools in the FCT held in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

The Permanent secretary assured the staff that with the take-off of the one thousand nine hundred and fifty training the trainers programme by next year the programme will continue until the over thirty thousand strong work force of the FCT staff are fully trained and were fully ICT compliance.

Olusade also explained that the Minister has approved one thousand nine hundred and fifty staff of FCT to undergo computer acquisition training from next week Monday 18-10-2021 to the end of this year.

Olusade who was represented by the Director, office of the permanent secretary, Atang Odey encouraged the FCT Education Secretarial to sustain the training programme so as to enhance the capacity and service delivery of teachers and staff of the administration.

He thanked the Korea International Agency, KOICA, for this strategy partnership in ensuring the FCT teachers were fully trained in the field of ICT to enable them cope with the emergent challenge in the global sphere.

He added that “I want to thank you for being able to endure, understand and also imbibed the trend of development in the world which is ICT.It is our hope and believe that by the time you get back to your classes, the system of impacting knowledge will now change from paper base to ICT platforms”. 

“I want to thank first and foremost the honourable minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello for providing this strategy partnership between the FCT administration and KOICA which resulted in this series”, Olusade said.

He further stated that the administration was able to disperse some of it staff, teachers and also it ICT staff to go and undergo computer engineering programme from hardware maintenance and software development.

The Director, Department of Policy, Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Mohammed Sani said the training was facilitated by 15 facilitators initially trained by KOICA and Federal Ministry of Education.

Dr Sani said, the five weeks rigorous training was undertaken in batches made up of 272 education officers comprising 32 Key officers from quality Assurance and Monitoring units of education boards and departments and 240 Heads of Schools and Teachers from 48 selected Public Schools trained on the online and multimedia education.

He commended UNICEF and KOICA who have continued to support educational activities through provision of facilities and capacity building in the FCT.

“Mention must be made of our Nigerian partners in the provision of support and Capacity building to our teachers, such as The Federal Ministry of Education, Universal Basic Education Commission and The Federal Ministry of National Planning. You are warmly welcome and we appreciate your honoring our invitations“, he said.

According to him, “today, we have invited you to witness the closing ceremony for the workshop and the presentation of Certificates of Participation to the participants. This shall be done by the Honourable Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu to be supported by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola”.

He, therefore welcomed the 272 education officers comprising 32 Key officers from Quality Assurance and Monitoring units of education boards and departments and 240 Heads of Schools and Teachers from 48 selected Public Schools trained on the online and multimedia education.
