Corps members donate Uniforms for Pupils in Katsina State

No fewer than 40 indigent pupils of primary schools in katsina state have benefitted from the generosity of members of the National Youth Service Corps in Batagarawa local government Area of Katsina State, northwest Nigeria.

The Anti-Corruption Community Development Service Group of Corps members initiative followed the survey conducted on the deplorable conditions of pupils in basic primary schools in the area.

The beneficiaries were drawn from Batagarawa Low-cost Primary School and Batagarawa Model Primary School.

The president of the group, Ambali Abdulkabir revealed that as teachers in the various schools around the area, they observed that children were always not returning to school as expected.

According to him, within time the number of children that drop out from schools attributed such to the fact that their parents cannot afford the basic requirement for schooling.

“We are moved by this singular reason to contribute our own quota to provide uniforms to these children to stop them from dropping out of school”, he said.

He also called on wealthy and philanthropic Nigerians to come to the aid of the pupils by providing them some of the basic needs to enable them continue with their education and become responsible citizens in their society.

In his address, the Batagarawa Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Yusuf Machika lauded the initiative and promised full support for corps members serving in the council area.

“I must really commend the NYSC CDS programme for this wonderful performance. This, of course, shows that Corps members in Katsina have the progress and development of their host communities at heart. We will, therefore, ensure that we support them for more of such efforts”, he concluded.

On his part, the State Coordinator NYSC, Alhaji Ahidjo Yahaya commended the Corps members for the project.

He urged corps members to continue to make the desired impact in their host communities to develop and improve their standard.

Alhaji Ahidjo who observed the dedication and selfless virtues displayed by the Anti-Corruption CDS members in the execution of the project, urged other Corps members to emulate them.

“I am happy for the group for the job well done. This is indicative of the fact that our corps members are doing really well”, the Coordinator added
