A member of the Gombe State House of Assembly and former majority leader representing Pero Chonge in Shongom local government areas of Gombe state Mr. Samuel Markus Winna has commended the new medical law in Gombe state initiated by the state government where over 25,000 identified poor people in the state are now enjoying free medical treatment in various parts of the state.
Mr. Winna who spoke to Voice of Nigeria in a telephone interview said the new health law in the state has allowed for the state to use one percent of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue to be used for the treatment of some identified poor people in the state.
“The Gombe state Governor Inuwa Yahaya has so much passion to transform the healthcare sector in the state that is why he is giving more attention to the sector, for instance the new health insurance scheme Go Health by the state government has started putting smiles on the faces of people of the state as people now have access to quality medical treatment almost for free in the state”.
He noted that in all the 144 political ward in the state the state government has ensured that all the healthcare facilities are standardized with modern equipment aimed at ensuring quality health service delivery.
“In the nearest future the people of the state will come to appreciate the hug investments the state government is making in the health sector as most people will have access to quality healthcare services almost for free,” he stressed.
The legislator also thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for not abandoning the projects he inherited from the past Government in the state.
“If the state government will continue in this pace of development, Gombe state will become the envy of most states in the country, because we have a governor who didn’t abandoned the projects he inherited from the past Government, for instance there are project that are considered to be no go areas but the state government have dived into it, like the connection of Balanga south and Balanga north by road cost over 4 billion Naira which is equivalent to the state Federal allocation”
He stated that civil servants in the state now enjoys the 30,000 thousand National minimum wage because the state government also takes the welfare of the people of the state serious.
