The media has been urged to sustain its role in sensitizing citizens on climate issues.
This was contained in a communique after a one-day meeting between CSOs and media organized by Extinction Rebellion with support from Bridge that Gap Initiative on nature and biodiversity held in Kaduna.
Bridge that Gap Initiative/ Extinction Rebellion coordinator, Gloria Bulus said the objective of the meeting was to bring together media and CSOs to discuss on loss of plant and animal species as a result of climate change.
She said it is preparatory to Conference of Parties(COP 26) in Glasgow, Scotland which is calling on World leaders to increase climate finance to address loss of the rich biodiversity of Africa.
The forum resolved that stakeholders should actively engage media in sensitizing citizens on climate change issues.
According to Bulus, government at all levels should be sensitive in the plight of the citizens when developing laws and policies on climate issues.
The forum further agreed that the healthy collaboration between the CSOs and media on environmental actions should continue.
She added that government should support recycling companies in their drive to convert waste to wealth and also invest in alternative source of energy.
