Anambra Election: Voting begins

Voting has commenced in some parts of Anambra State with heavy security.

 

Voice of Nigeria reports that the environment is condusive as the people come out to exercise their civic right.

Governor Willie Obiano voted at ERI primary school at Polling Unit 004, Otuocha Ward Ward 1, Aguleri in Anbra East LGA.
He hailed the people if Anambra and urged them to come out and cast their votes.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo cast his vote at about 11am.
He expressed worry over the poor Internet connectivity experienced by voters in Anambra state as  Independent National Electoral Commission deploys Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System.

Mr. Ozigbo decried that it took him over 20 minutes to casts his vote and wondered what other voters would experience in various parts of the State.
He seized the opportunity to call on eligible voters to come out and exercise their franchise, assuring them of their security.

 

Ozigbo made the call shortly after casting his vote at Social Centre, Unit 010, Amesi, Aguata local government area.
He further decried late arrival of materials at Awka South, Orumba North, other parts, and urged INEC officials to ensure materials get to those areas to avoid disenfranchising voters.
There is large turnout of voters at Uruokwe ward 3, Enugwu Ukwu in the Njikoka LGA of Anambra State .
The exercise is moving smoothly in Community Primary  School, Umueze Council, Amawobia, Ward 1, with the presence of Security agencies, the Army, Police, NSCDC and INEC officials.

 

 

Also at 003 and 0015 Enuagu village, Enugwu-Ukwu Ward 1 voting accreditation has just began following the late arrival of INEC materials.

 

The Lawmaker representing Anocha, Dunokofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo still waiting patiently to vote.

 

 

The Village Chairman, Chief Uche Okafor, blame the delay on the side of the INEC officials that declined their continuity.

Also in Agulu ward 5 001 and 002 in Awka South LGA in Anambra Central, the people are set to exercise their civic duty of voting.

In Nri ward1, Regal Secondary School Polling unit, the people are gathered to exercise their franchise but no INEC official and materials  were seen on venue.

 

Senator Uche Ekwunife was seen as at the time of this report worried about the absence of INEC officials.
