Suspected Kidnapper in Niger state behind abduction of UniAbuja Professors

Authorities in Niger state North Central Nigeria have identified the suspected leader of the kidnapping gang in the state to be  behind University of Abuja kidnapping.

Commissioner of Local government, Chieftaincy affairs and internal security, Mr. Emmanuel Umar disclosed this in a joint briefing with security heads at Niger State police command headquarters on Saturday.

The Commissioner explained that the suspected Kidnapper Muhammed Ahmadu whose building was demolished in Minna Niger state capital, is one of the mastermind behind the recent incident of kidnapping of two Professors and their family members at the University of Abuja.

He explained that based on credible information in relation to the kidnapping incident at University of Abuja, a joint security operation led to the arrest of Muhammed Ahmadu.

According to him, the suspect upon interrogation confessed to have participated in five other kidnapping incidents.

Mr. Umar further disclosed that the suspect’s further confession led to the rescue of the kidnapped staff and families of University of Abuja Professors.

The Commissioner further noted that, the suspect used proceed of his nefarious activities to buy the house demolished by the Niger state Government on Friday night at Nakagbe area of Minna.

He reiterated the commitment and determination of GovernorAbubakar Sani Bello to protect lives and properties and rid the State of all criminal activities.

“The State government will not allow the State to be a safe haven for kidnappers, bandits or any criminal” he said.

Mr. Emmanuel Umar also encouraged the people to always be vigilant and report to security agencies any suspicious activities around their communities adding that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
