A group known as the ‘progressive for Umaru Tanko Almakura‘ has endorsed Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, for the position of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The endorsement was made known during a press conference organized by the group, in Lafia the State capital. The Convener of the group, Makpa Malla said that “the aim is to prove without a doubt that Nasarawa state is rock-solid and adamantly poised at standing for her own through this journey towards the Extra-ordinary National Convention of the party as a National Chairmanship contender.
“We believe that this step taken today would pave way for the eventual emergence of an ‘Al-makura National Chairmanship’ of our party. By this endorsement, the entire APC family in the state hereby expresses its utmost support and throws its full weight behind the aspiration of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura (Sarduanan Gwandara).”
The Nasarawa State Chairman All Progressive Congress,(APC), John Mamman added and said, “APC should be fair to the CPC and zone its National Chairmanship position to Nasarawa State. I am not just appealing that the APC national chairmanship position should be zoned to the North Central, but it should be given to Nasarawa State.
“We are appealing to the entire leadership structure of our great party, that in it’s much-anticipated guideline for the forthcoming Extra-ordinary National Convention, they should consider zoning the office of the national chairman to the north-central, due to the strategic position the zone occupies in the political permutation of the country.”
Also, the Speaker, Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Balarebe Abdullahi said “Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, is not only a son of Nasarawa, but he is also a nationalist and an institution whose legacies and achievements in leadership are worthy of replication on a wider scale.”
The speaker represented by the majority leader of the House of Assembly, Tanko Tunga, “It Is On This Note That A Larger Platform as “National Party Administration” must be viewed as an apt opportunity for Almakura’s gifts and capabilities to be tapped into and experienced for the greater benefit of the APC at all levels, its growth and entrenchment in the country at large.”
He further reiterates strongly that an Al-Makura chairmanship of the APC, holds much good for the party’s fortunes come 2023 and going forward.
