The Participants at the Defence Advisers and Attachés Annual Conference have been called upon to use their vantage positions to make valuable contributions to the Federal Government’s efforts at securing the country.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor made the call at the closing ceremony of the the Defence Advisers and Attachés Annual Conference and Maiden Retreat organized by the Defence Intelligence Agency in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.
The CDS who also expressed confident that the resolutions produced at the Defence Advisers and Attachés Annual Conference would enhance the productivity of the Agency, equally assured the agency and participants that the Defence Headquarters, in conjunction with Ministry of Defence, Services Headquarters, and the Agency will do all within available resources to ameliorate the challenging conditions in order to ensure that they perform assigned responsibilities and tasks with minimum hindrances.
“The deliberations I am reliably informed, was quite stimulating, engendered healthy deliberations and produced useful resolutions.
The Conference equally enabled the review of the operational activities of the Defence Sections as well as their administrative issues in the present year with a view to projecting for Year 2022.”
“Given the theme of the Conference, ‘Advancing Counterterrorism Efforts through Enhanced Inter-Agency Cooperation: A Whole of Government Approach, as well as the way the entire conference was conducted, I am convinced that you are now better poised to contribute more effectively to the efficient performance of your Defence Sections,” said the CDS
General Irabor also pointed out that he is cognizant of the administrative constraints facing the various Defence Sections as discussed during the Conference will be addressed within given resources.
In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Adebayo said the Conference afforded participants to listened to lectures delivered by seasoned resource persons followed by stimulating interactive sessions with a view to reappraising counterterrorism strategies to incorporate a whole of government approach.
He said the critical resolutions reached and captured in the Conference Communiqué will be forwarded to the appropriate quarters for swift implementation towards enhancing’ national’ security.
“Hopefully, the Agency’s Retreat which will hold on Saturday 13 November 2021 will further consolidate on the gains of the Conference. The outcome of the Conference attests to the relevance of the Defence Advisers/Attachés system in advancing Nigeria’s national security and defence objectives. To this end, the Defence Intelligence Agency will continue to leverage on the Defence Attaché system in support of ongoing engagements of the Armed Forces of Nigeria especially in our contemporary security context.”
This is to ensure that no effort is spared in dealing with the threats to our corporate existence as a nation. It is therefore my belief that this year’s Conference will go down as a milestone achievement in our efforts to refocus ourselves on the challenges of re-engineering the Defence Attaché system in furtherance of our national security interests through effective collaboration.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence Agency also emphasized that the Conference highlighted the need for synergy and collaboration among the intelligence and security agencies as well as Ministries, Departments and Agencies” stated the DIA Chief.
