Five national commissioners will be out of service by December – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirms that five of its National Commissioners will officially pull out of service on December 6, 2021 after the expiration of their five-year tenure.

According to National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, the affected National Commissioners include Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu, Dr. Adekunle Ogunmola, Mallam Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Mrs May Agbamuche Mbu and Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Tijani Muazu (rtd).

Okoye will pull out in 2023 after completing his tenure in July. Reports also confirm that the slot of the South-South is still vacant after the Senate rejected the nomination of President Muhamamadu Buhari’s aide, Lauretta Onochie

Meanwhile, the new National Commissioners that will replace the outgoing ones include Professor Sani Muhammad Adam, Dr. Baba Bila, Professor Abdullahi Abdul Zuru, Professor Muhammad Sani Kallah and Professor Kunle Cornelius Ajayi.
