The North East Business Communities for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar are clamouring support to persuade the former Vice President of Nigeria to join the race for the presidency in 2023.
The call was made by Dr. Ali Adamu Bappayo on behalf of the coalition of the businessmen in the North East. He said the organisation was formed to support Atiku to join the race to salvage Nigeria.
Bappayo said they believe Atiku had all that it takes to turn things around for the better, especially in creating various opportunities for the teeming youths in the country. He said they had collectively agreed to support Atiku across the North East, irrespective of party affiliation.
Bappayo said the group agreed to assist in acquiring the Nomination Form. They had all pledged to buy it for him towards the 2023 Presidential Election.
The Former Vice President, Mr. Atiku Abubakar said he accepted their call and appreciated the kind gesture, especially since the party was not representing any particular party. He said the organisation had by the move united the North East and would go down in history as the first worthy record of support.
According to him, he is grateful for stepping in to secure the Nomination Form, the cost of which is yet to be determined.
Various speakers at the event all encouraged the remaining five zones in the country to support Mr. Atiku Abubakar because they had previously and overwhelmingly supported the North West to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and Late President Umaru Yar’Adua, South West to elect former President Olusegun Obasanjo, South-South to elect former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The speakers included the chairman of the Association, Mr. Abubakar Jibrin, the Chairman of the event, Mr. Adamu Maina Waziri, former Deputy Majority leader of the Nigerian Senate, Sen. Abdul Ningi, among others.
