The warning was made by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Janet Agbanzo during a press briefing in Lafia the state capital.

Dr. Agbanzo said the state has recorded two confirmed cases of Lassa fever, and three suspects being monitored closely.

She further said that “this is the time where the Mastomys rodents enter peoples houses because of bush burning”

She however outlined some of the preventive measures as;
Putting food away in rodent-proof containers and keeping the home clean help to discourage rodents from entering home,

” Using infection control measures, such as complete equipment sterilization and isolating infected patients from contact with imported persons until the disease has run its course“, she added

Angbazo appealed to medial practitioners to support the ministry in sensitizing citizens in awareness creation, noting that lassa fever is more deadlier than Corona virus.

Lassa fever is an acute viral illness that occurs in West Africa.
