FEMA, Rotary Club collaborate on humanitarian services

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency, in the Nigerian capital city, Abuja (FEMA) has pledged its commitment to collaborate with the Rotary Club of Apo, District 9125 on rendering humanitarian services in the FCT.

The Director-General of FEMA, Alhaji Abbas Idriss disclosed this when he received members of the Rotary Club of Apo, District 9125 who paid him a courtesy visit at the Agency’s office in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

Alhaji Idriss noted that these days most Nigerians lacked the culture of transmitting care to people, “unlike in the past when we were our brother’s keeper.”

He urged Rotary to participate in the forthcoming International Volunteer Day activities which include the donation of blood, visits to the less privileged in hospitals and gifts to indigent persons.

The FEMA boss assured them of FEMA’s willingness to work with Rotary Club of Apo.

Earlier, President of the Rotary Club of Apo, Rtd. Bernad Ugwueke (rtd), said the visit was to ask FEMA to key into its programmes like eradication of diseases, health care and provision of clean and safe water in schools.

General Ugwueke appreciated FEMA for its support for Rotary Club of Apo.
