Capacity building, key to development – Expert

An expert on research, Mr Auwalu Abdullahi Rano says capacity building is the key to national development.

He stated this during the unveiling of the A. A Rano Centre for the Research on National Development and Manpower Improvement in collaboration with StandTall Africa Initiative in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Rano who is also the Chairman of the centre called on Nigerians to take advantage of the training centre

The Chairman represented by the Director, A. A Rano Group of Companies, Mr Salisu Balarabe said; The centre will benefit Nigerians especially the youths in the quest for knowledge”.

He noted that over the years, Nigerians travel to other countries to be trained and to enhance their knowledge and skills while providing information and instruction on how to better perform specific tasks.

According to him, for this reason, there is a need to establish such a training centre in Nigeria.

The Chairman commended the Nigerian government for championing the course of peace and stability in the country.

The Director-General of Jibwis Nigeria, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim during a presentation of the paper titled; Manpower Development Key to National Development stated that; The role of human capital in economic growth cannot be overemphasized as there is need for appropriate manpower development and accumulation is a prerequisite for modern economic growth in both developed and developing countries.

According to him, it has been recognized that the development of human capital is also an essential pre-condition for a country’s economic, political and socio-cultural transformation.

Human capital is considered as the most valuable asset for a country’s economic, political and socio-cultural transformation and this needs to be mobilized, developed and empowered to participate fully in all socio-economic activities”.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Country Representative, Dr. Emmanuel Ogah urged Nigerians to take education and reading as the tools for learning which would differentiate and promote such individuals with time.

After the unveiling of the centre, a six-member Board of Trustees was set-up which the Chairman of the Board is Mr.  Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, the Vice-Chairman is Dr. Emmanuel Ogah, Secretary, Dr Amaka, . Member, Mr. Salisu Balarabe, Member and the Emir of Kaura.

The Staff of StandTall Africa Initiative were all around and few dignitaries were in attendance and souvenirs were presented to them.
