A Non Governmental Organization operating under the banner of Anambra State Association (ASA)Worldwide, says it will offer free treatment to over 40,000 patients during this year’s medical outreach in eight selected communities.
Speaking with newsmen at Abagana community near Awka, the state capital, during the commencement of the outreach, the Leader of the Association, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, said they considered it proper to sustain the annual exercise so as to provide access to medical care for poor people.
He added that the association was motivated to assist patients to overcome their challenges in line with its philosophy of giving back to the community from what they had acquired.
“Basically, we are here for the poor, not for the rich. We have the passion to touch their lives, treat them free of charge, provide them with health care information that will enable them to live long and nutritional guide pending on the patient’s age. There is no cost and we don’t care where you are coming from. We treat everybody”.
While stating that their services cut across the three senatorial zones in the state with qualified medical experts, he explained that they would treat basic identified medical cases and run tests for high blood pressure, sugar etc.
“We believe in treating people the way we want to be treated. We have come to share what we have. We have qualified professionals in all areas of medicine to treat up to 5000 people daily from 20th to 28th December”.
Some of the patients who spoke during the outreach commended the initiative of the association and called for its sustainance to complement the efforts of government in healthcare delivery.
