By Olubunmi Osoteku, Ibadan
In a bid to ensure a hitch-free yuletide, the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has deployed not less than 150 men and officers for what it called “a Special Night Operation” aimed at ensuring a smooth cross-over night across the state.
The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the administrative headquarters of the authority, Agodi, Ibadan, the state capital.
Fagbemi said the influx of people into the state calls for an enhanced operational approach from the men and officers of OYRTMA in order to ensure a seamless and accident-free yuletide across the state.
He noted that the deployment of 150 men and officers of OYRTMA for night operations during the yuletide is in line with meeting the urgent societal needs, particularly during the festive period.
Fagbemi explained that the exercise would be complimented by a stand-by emergency rescue operations team in the event of any emergency.
He implored motorists in the state to drive safely and carefully as the agency hopes the public takes full advantage of the agency’s social media handles and hotlines to get to the agency in time in case of emergencies, as the agency is always on alert.
Fagbemi further extended his appreciation to the executive governor of the state, Seyi Makinde, for his support to the agency since the inception of the present administration and appreciated the people of the state for their immense understanding, cooperation and support for the year 2021.
The Special Night Operation is specifically for the festive season which would focus mainly on the cross-over night between 9pm and 2am.
