Ebonyi 2021 carnival: Traditional Leader charges youths on cultural values

The Izzi community Chief in Lagos, State Southwest Nigeria, His Royal Highness, Eze Cyprain Nwekee has called on  youths from Ebonyi state to use the rich cultural heritage of their State as a tool for peace, unity and progress of the country.
Eze Nwekee made the call during the 2021 Amike Aba day celebration and carnival in Abakaliki, the State Capital.
The Monarch advised them to embrace culture as it was the people’s way of life.
“Let me state it clearly, as far as I am concerned, there is no culture in any part of Nigeria that encourages violence which include wanton killing and destruction of properties, kidnapping, banditry, insurgency, bribery and corruption among others,” Nwekee said.
He called on all Nigerian traditional Rulers to play their part in promoting culture as a tool to curb crime in the society.

“To worsen the whole situation, our children no longer know how to speak their languages. It is our duties as the heads of traditional institutions to get up and take responsibility,” he added.
He said culture helps to add value to human life.
Also, the Chairman of all the traditional Rulers of Izzi clan in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, Eze Sunday Oketa expressed joy over the cultural carnival organised by the people of Amike Aba.
The Chairman, Central planning committee, Mr James Aligwe in his address said “the carnival was also conceived to further unite and cement the cherished Izhi love and Unity and the good people of Amike Aba, more especially during the Yuletide and beyond”.

The Chairman of Amike Aba Development Union, Mr Augustine Nwiboko said the carnival has brought an everlasting unity and peace in the Community.
The Highlights of the ceremony was the coronation and award giving ceremony to Inspector of Nigeria Police,
One of the awardees, Mrs Nkechinyere Nwota was also coronated as the ‘Iphoro’ meaning the ‘Light’ of  Izzi People and Amike Aba.
