Abducted Niger State APC Chairman regains freedom

The Niger State Police Command in North central Nigeria has confirmed the release of the abducted APC Zone ‘C’ chairman, Alhaji Aminu Musa Bobi by his abductors.

A statement by the Niger state police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun on Saturday, mentioned that Bobi was  rescued unhurt.

The victim and his driver according to Police were attacked on August 7, 2021 by suspected armed men on their way to the farm along Ukuru road in Bobi district area of Mariga Local government area of Niger State.

“The driver was shot on the leg and abandoned by the assailants while the chairman was abducted”, the statement read.

However, the Command mobilized a joint Police, army and vigilante team to the area for manhunt of the gunmen which resulted to the release of the party Chairman on Friday August 13, 2021 around Igwama forest, Bobi district area of Mariga Local government area of the state.

“The victim after the subsequent rescue from the forest, was debriefed and taken to general hospital, Kontagora for medical attention, while effort to track down the culprits is being intensified”, it added.

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas, however appreciated the efforts of the communities within for their support towards the recent achievements recorded, and reiterated his commitment and readiness to ensure that the students of Mallam Salihu Tanko Islamiyya are equally released and rescued unhurt.

The APC Chairman was rescued a day after the Niger state Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Mohammed Sank Idris regained his freedom from his abductors in Tafa Local government area of the State.

The Niger state police command further solicits for more cooperation of the people by giving useful information to the Police towards achieving the desired goal of a more secured environment.
