Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets on Friday evening defeated Burkina Faso 2-1, courtesy of a double by Abubakar Abdullahi to win the 2022 West Africa Football Union Zone B U-17 Championship in Cape Coast, Ghana.
The Golden Eaglets went ahead in the 22nd minute through Abubakar Abdullahi who headed home from a brilliant cross from Emmanuel Michael.

The Burkinabes equalised when they capitalised on a defensive error from the Nigerians to make the scores 1-1 just before the halftime break.
The Nigerians reclaimed their lead two minutes into the second half through Abubakar Abdullahi who pounced on a loose ball from Emmanuel Michael’s free kick which was fumbled by the goalkeeper.

Moments later, Abdullahi then missed a chance to grab his hat-trick.
Burkina Faso piled on the pressure but the Golden Eaglets’ resilient defence kept the Burkinabes out as the match finished 2-1 in favour of the Nigerians.
Nigeria will now head to the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Algeria next year as West Africa Zone B champions.
