The Minister of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, has commended the development and transformation of the territory after he conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects on Tuesday as part of activities to mark the FCT’s Golden Jubilee.

He declared that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has fundamentally altered the city’s landscape.

Speaking to Journalists after visiting several construction sites, the Minister expressed high satisfaction with the pace of work, specifically highlighting the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) and the Apo-Wassa road network.

Wike began his tour in Gishiri, noting that the road network there is slated for inauguration within the administration’s second or third year.

He then moved to the OSEX/Ring Road I area to inspect bridge construction, followed by a visit to the Apo-Wassa sector—a critical hub intended for Apo traders.

“I am quite impressed by this initiative. We are handling three major jobs.

” These are expected to be completed, I hope, by August, while the work in the OSEX area will be delivered as part of the third-year anniversary”, Wike stated.

Reflecting on the FCT’s 50th Anniversary (February 3, 2026), Wike emphasised that the recent infrastructure push is more than just a celebration.

“Over the past three years—and this isn’t merely a Golden Jubilee celebration—the President’s tenure has changed the landscape of the FCT,” the Minister remarked, adding that all works strictly adhere to the Abuja Master Plan.”

Meanwhile, addressing the recent industrial action by the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC), Wike dismissed claims of a “setback.”

He added: “At the end of the day, there is no winner or loser; this is about the interests of the FCT and its continued progress.”

He however, noted that union leadership had seen the reality of the progress firsthand, clearing up misconceptions.

Wike confirmed that conditions are now optimal for workers to return to their posts.
