Abuja Chamber of Commerce Mourns Herbert Wigwe

The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Dr Emeka Obegolu has expressed deep sorrow and shock following the sudden death of the Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Mr Herbert Wigwe.

Wigwe, along with his wife, son, and colleagues, tragically crashed in a helicopter in the United States of America on Friday.

Mr Obegolu, stated that the news of Wigwe’s passing and that of his immediate family and colleagues was not only a great loss to his family but also the Nigerian banking sector and the business community at large.

Wigwe, as the leader of one of Nigeria’s largest banks, has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian banking industry and the country’s economy, achieving outstanding results,” he said.

Mr Obegolu reiterated that the Access Bank family, the Nigerian banking sector, and the business community have suffered a major loss with the passing of Wigwe, who was known for his intellect and fine character.

He also said; “this loss is deeply felt by anyone who has had the privilege of knowing Wigwe and recognising his significant contributions in various ways.”

“On behalf of the Executive Council and members of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), I offer heartfelt prayers for the repose of the departed souls and the solace of their grieving families,”Mr Obegolu added.
