The Parish Priest, St John Paul II Catholic Church, Papal’s ground, Kubwa, Abuja Nigeria’s capital, Mathew Kwargas has tasked Nigerian Leaders on inclusive leadership.
The Cleric was speaking at the occasion of the commemoration of the Kingship of Jesus Christ as the Universal King.
In his words “Jesus Christ whom we celebrate as our King today brought the kingdom of peace, justice, fairness and love where everybody is treated as a human being with dignity. And that is what our leaders must learn to do. Leadership which calls for service, seeing everyone as your own, no tribalism, no differences, accepting everyone and then making life easier for everyone”.
Describing the sufferings of the masses orchestrated by the removal of fuel subsidy as unnecessary, the Cleric called on Nigerian Leaders to service “Leaders must do all they can to make people happy, to bring about peace and Unity in the country,“ he advised.
Speaking further on the significance of the celebration and how it is applied to the less privileged in the society, Fr Kwargas noted that Nigerian leaders should exemplify such “By allowing the nation’s abundant resources to trickle down to the less privileged particularly, we are talking about the sick, the unemployed, people who have no businesses, and even those who have businesses, the businesses have been grounded because of the economic situation in Nigeria. So our leaders must use the resources that we have in abundance, let them know that these resources do not belong to them alone and their family members or their colonies, but they should know that of course they are going to be accountable for it before God, that these resources should reach to the last person in the country through provision of basic amenities that will alleviate the sufferings of the poor; and the monster that is killing many of us including even the rich, fuel price, the poor cannot afford to buy even a litre of fuel today, they should do something about that.so that the poor can always smile. And our President kept talking let the poor breathe, let them do what will allow and make the poor breathe.”
