The 20th edition of the Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF) has opened in the Nigerian capital with the theme Beyond BordersGlobalisation and the Film Business.

The festival, which runs from October 30 to November 3, 2023, aims to explore the intersection between the rapidly evolving global film industry and the diverse cultures that shape it.

The founder of AlFF, Fidelis Duker, says the theme reflects the need for filmmakers to embrace the opportunities and challenges of globalisation, as well as to celebrate the diversity and richness of cinema across the world.

We believe that cinema has the power to transcend boundaries and bring people together, providing understanding and cultural exchange,” founder of AlFF, Fidelis Duker, said in his opening address at the event in Abuja.

The festival will host film screenings, workshops, panel discussions, and training across diverse spaces such as the Silverbird Galleria, Abuja Continental Hotel, Korea Culture Centre, and the Chinese Cultural Centre.

Some of the films for screening include Saving Raymond, Anemos, The Oasis of Frozen Waters, Timini, Port-au-Prince, and African Millionaires in America, among others.

The festival will also present awards to the best films in various categories, such as feature, documentary, animation, short, and student films.

The festival is expected to attract film enthusiasts and professionals from Nigeria and abroad.
