The Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation new Permanent Secretary, Shehu Aliyu Shinkafi has assumed office in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
He took over from Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who has also be redeployed to the Federal Ministry of Education.
Shinkafi, expressed readiness for collaboration with staff of the Ministry in the area of work ethics and commitment to duties, adding that he would operate an open-door policy, urging all Staff to cooperate with him to fulfill the Ministry’s mandate.
He extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his deployment to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation just as he encouraged staff off the Ministry tobe diligent and performance their duties with sense of responsibility.
Additionally, the Permanent Secretary pledged to work harmoniously with all staff in order to achieve the set out objectives of the Priority Areas of Water and Sanitation Sector.
In her handover address, Mrs. Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to the Ministry and her Agencies’ staff as well as all Water Resources and Sanitation Stakeholders for their support during her tenure.
She welcomed her successor, assured him of the commitment and resourcefulness of the Water and Sanitation team, and expressed confidence that the new leadership, with vision and commitment, will elevate the Ministry’s efforts. Mrs. Walson-Jack implored the staff to support the new Permanent Secretary for more significant accomplishments that will benefit all Nigerians.
Mrs. Phoebe Nwandu, the Director of Special Duties at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, acknowledged the day’s event as a transition of responsibilities from one capable leader to another.
She expressed gratitude to the outgoing Permanent Secretary for her exemplary and visionary leadership and welcomed Alhaji Shehu Shinkafi on behalf of the Management and staff of the Ministry.
Mrs. Nwandu urged all Ministry’ staff to collaborate and work effectively to achieve the Ministry’s mandate.
Shehu Aliyu Shinkafi, a Fellow Certified National Accountant hails from the Shinkafi Emirate of Zamfara State. A seasoned Accountant and Administrator.
His distinguished service includes roles in the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Federal Ministry of Finance, and most recently in the Special Services Office of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
