The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu says Abuja, Nigeria’s capital is hosting the 2022 edition of the Annual Science fair billed for 14th to 18th March.
Dr Onu said the fair would enable investors and innovators of various scientific feat have opportunity to synergise and work out possible solutions.
Receiving briefs on the exhibition arena project, he explained that ”the EXPO would help Nigeria’s young talents showcase their work and enable them create new jobs for its citizens.”
The Minister further said that ”the 2022 edition is unique, because innovators from all sectors (Informal, formal and academia, will be afforded an opportunity to showcase to the world, on the possibility of Scientific research that can be produced from the country.”
The EXPO activities, would include an opening ceremony, technical sessions, platforms for interaction between investors, innovators, researchers and presentation of the best three young scientists in the country.
Mr. Onu further explained that, it would be a platform for not only showcasing intellectual capabilities but also, encouraging entrepreneurship among Nigeria’s innovators and creative students.
He said that; ”the Ministry is the hub of Nigeria’s entrepreneurship development and will continue to support innovation, thereby calling on the people to be part of the event as the Nigerian government will commission Science, Technology and innovation Television and unveil the Ministry’s revised policy framework.”
Briefing the Minister on the exhibition arena project, the Chief Executive MIRAKON event limited said; ”work is in progress as planned and things have been put into consideration including Covid-19 precautions and measures for safety of all stakeholders as well as participants at the event.”
The Science Technology and Innovation EXPO is a traditional avenue for scientific innovators to meet with investors, who will showcase and commercialise their research findings.
This year’s event is themed: ‘Sustaining National Economic Growth through Science Technology and Innovation.’
Special guest of honour is the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Also, Prizes and certificate would be awarded to outstanding exhibitors in the category of Tertiary institution including inventors, innovators, entrepreneurs, jets and states.
