ACCI Trains Youths In Office Administration And Other Skills

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), in collaboration with the German International Corporation, (GIZ) Nigeria have trained 15 youths in Office Administration, OA and Technical Facility Operations and Maintenance, TFOM.

The President of the ACCI, Dr Emeka Obegolu during the second graduation of the one year dual vocational training in Abuja said both programs were designed to equip participants with essential skills required to excel in their respective fields.

Dr Obegolu who was represented by the First Deputy President of the Chamber, Mr Adesoji Adesugba noted that the programs immerse the trainees in real-world scenarios, ensuring they gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Dr Obegolu said “We commend the ACCI BEST Centre for executing the second phase of the trainings, alongside the commitment and efforts of the trainees and the Federation of Construction Industries (FOCI) for the TFOM Training.”

“The Office Administration program follows the Dual Vocational Training (DVT) model, which integrates workplace experience with academic instruction as a level 4 certification under the National Skills Qualification Framework as approved by the Federal Government through the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).”

“The TFOM program, on the other hand, focuses on technical facility management. It provides trainees with industry-relevant competencies across 12 critical learning fields, from safe working practices and environmental protection measures to electrical installation operations and building security.” Dr Obegolu explained.

He said beyond acquiring technical knowledge the graduates developed essential soft skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, and professionalism.

“These attributes will serve them well as they navigate the evolving job market and contribute meaningfully to their organizations and society at large.”

“We will continue to evolve our training models, strengthen our partnerships with industry leaders, and ensure that future cohorts benefit from the highest standards of learning and professional development.” He added.

The GIZ Programme Manager Skills Development for Youth Employment Programme, (SKYE), Mrs Britta Erckelens said the programe ensures long term sustainability and credibility of vital training initiatives within the National Skills qualification framework.

“This accreditation provides graduates with nationally recognized credentials, enhancing their employability and career prospects”

“This forward thinking initiative equips participants with the essential skills, knowledge and practical experience required for success in the dynamic, ever evolving field of office, management and administration in the 21st century workplace.” Erckelens stated

She encouraged the graduant to make use of their skills in contributing to national development.

“Your Success will undoubtedly inspire others to pursue vocational training and to contribute to the growth of a skilled workforce.” She added.
